Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play, team-based multiplayer first-person shooter. It was the first of its kind in the genre and led to the creation of many other games inspired by Team Fortress 2’s style. Originally released in 2007, it was developed and published by Valve.
Over the years, "TF2" (as it's nicknamed by the community) has become an icon among video game enthusiasts, inspiring later games such as Paladins, Overwatch, and Marvel Rivals. These titles follow the "class-based" or "hero-based" system that TF2 pioneered, allowing players to choose from different "classes" with unique playstyles and roles within a team.
TF2 features two opposing teams—RED and BLU—each made up of up to nine unique character classes. Players work together to complete map-specific objectives, such as capturing control points, pushing payload carts, or defending areas from attackers.
There are 9 distinct classes in TF2 that fill very specific roles in the team and loosely follow 3 categories. Offense, Defense, and Support are the 3 categories that the 9 classes fall into, as well as items the classes can equip that can alter their "playstyle". An example in game would be the Engineer, who builds sentry guns that control space and eliminate enemies that enter their line of sight, dispensers that supply ammo and health to teammates, and teleporters teammates can use to get to the front lines quicker. This makes the engineer a defensive/support classes but with different items can alter the engineer to be more offensive in playstyle.
This website is designed to showcase my favorite “main” classes, provide explanations, and share helpful material on how to play those classes effectively.
